Lifehouse video ideas
haha. Come on, lets help them out!
They should do the live show from Phoenix! ![]()
Come on, people. This is just brainstorming.
Think outside the box. Don't be limited by little details like the song or the lyrics.
Just throw out some ideas. Who knows? ![]()

Well, I already tweeted some ideas. The funny ones would only work on a fun, upbeat song.
- Parody their own videos. Like....have them wear a bunch of eyeliner and explode random things in a tunnel and parody a Jack Bauer scene from 24 or something. LOL
- Do it cartoon or animated or sketched and let like Sylvia draw some or all of it. Like they are in a comic book or something. I can help with script ideas.

- VAMPIRES! nuff said. That's just an awesome idea right there. Not cheezy vampires, either. Real life vampires that would really live amongst us and that are totally struggling with their vampire identity and trying to be good. Subtlety is key here.
- I would love to see Lifehouse feature people with disabilities in some manner if it were like a happier song or a touching song. Like showing people that overcome obstacles. Like a bunch of little stories about real people with challenges. Maybe do part of the video with sign language interpretation.
- I think a really cool concept for a video from Lifehouse would be like a "pay it forward" type of theme showing how one really good thing could lead to another really great thing. Have it all start with the band and have it all come back to the band in the end.
- If their first single were Crash and Burn, I think it would be awesome to show different types of people struggling with some type of issue (addiction, drowning, bullying, etc) and then highlight how other people step in to be the everyday heroes. Like a thank you to the real heros amongst us. (Could be a friend, a teacher, a minister, a musician, a pet lol)
- You can't go wrong with a live performance. I agree with that. Live is Lifehouse's strength. If they could get some good footage with interesting camera angles and cool action shots, that could be incorporated into a story line of some sort.
hey guys. lets keep this thread serious. no, im not singling you out skrappy. lol. im just saying this would be a good thread if we had some real solidly written ideas. The boys will see this!
Wow.
I actually was being serious. Sometimes a crazy idea can turn into something really great, you know. Why limit people's ideas? That's just my opinion. ![]()

I really like these ideas. I would love to see Lifehouse do something like this for one of their videos. It would make me cry.
I think they should tour the world and collect the best bits in one video. Or tour Arizona
I like it when bands just compile clips of themselves(including live performances) for a music video. I'm sick of all the generic music videos of actors being paid to act all lovey or fight. Some music videos just get a little cheesy, even if the song isn't. And I don't want any cheese associated with Lifehouse.
Yes, I agree. Hold the cheese, please. haha
Okay, this one just all of the sudden sounded awesome to me. I posted it on the officials, but I wanted to put it here too.
Ok...I just thought of this! What about showing an actual "Lifehouse" being built by all kinds of people? Kind of like a "barn raising" so to speak. It would be all kinds of different people: young, old, all nationalities, all abilities and disabilities, the band, the fans. OMG....I'm loving this idea. I can just picture it. It all starts with like one little stone or brick by like maybe a child or something...like maybe a kid gets a rock thrown at him by a bully and he takes that rock and starts this whole awesome Lifehouse project not even knowing what it will eventually be, Then it could be built out of bricks and stones or all kinds of mish mosh of building materials....could be mementos like a feather or a scarf (lol) or a picture of a loved one (each unique element symbolizing what each person brings to the mission, but how it all fits together to make a cohesive structure.) One brick could say, "hope" and another person could place a stone that says, "love" or "tears" etc, etc. At the end, it's a structure that the band plays in. It would be a very cool symbolic representation of what the band stands for but it would also serve to help reinforce their name recognition.
Maybe it's done in like a time lapse sequence or something. Ok...and then to add to the theme....maybe it's being built during all kinds of different weather. Like sometimes its sunny and sometimes clouds, sometimes it's a storm and the Lifehouse is a shelter. People are just adding to the house as they pass it by. Snow will fall, all the seasons. Whoa....this could be pretty cool.
Then there might be something (like a storm) or some negative people that want to knock the Lifehouse down, but together .... everyone that built the house stands up for it in a storm and saves the house (including the band) and then maybe that kid who started it comes back when he's older and sees what has come of that one stone. ![]()

Shazam! ![]()
(and then they all have a bonfire at the beach after with Gary the sloth.) <------------just kidding on the last part.
Oh, and .... to add to the above. I don't know why I thought it had to be a boy that starts to build the house. I guess I was thinking of the band, but it might be interesting to have a girl build the house or maybe a boy and a girl together....(think like the young Forest Gump and Jenny) It would be like one helps the other start to build something through their friendship/care/concern....it starts the building of the house.
And also, there could be all kinds of things that happen inside the house. The band could be playing like they are a house band for a wedding, for a funeral, for a birthday party, for all the events that happen in life.
Um....okay...that's all the thoughts I have for now. ![]()
Maybe the boy could be bullied, like someone throws rocks at him, and the girl picks them up and shows him how to build a little pile or structure or something with them.
Very interesting idea Skrappy :)
Oh, nice. Even better idea! I like that.
Skrappy that is a cool idea. I'm gonna give you thumbs up.
Another idea I had which is a variation of the above idea is to have different people put together pieces of a giant puzzle. I like the whole puzzle symbolism and how everyone contributes something different to make the big picture. There's lots of directions that this could go. The cool part of a video like that might be that the viewer won't understand the picture until all the pieces are together. So, it makes it interesting to watch. Especially if once the puzzle is together, it comes to life and people or the band can walk into it. IDK, just coming up with other options.
And people could interpret it their own way....just like they could interpret Lifehouse's music in their own way
Right on--exactly--brilliant....leave people guessing at the end. Then they'll want to watch it again and they'll talk about it.
That's what we like about and find memorable about other videos, right?
Dre--that's actually a cool idea. I think that could be a video in itself. There is something that all kinds of different people are looking at and it can show what THEY see versus what is literally there. Oooooooh.....I like that. Nice.
Like When the Man of the Mountain in NH was still there. You had to be in a certain spot to see the Man. But from other places it looked just a regular rock formation.

you mustve missed the "No, im not singling you out, Skrappy." wasnt talking about you. i didnt even read any posts before posting that. FAIL
It's all good
I'm just sensitive is all.
My bad! ![]()
Ok, moving on... now that we have the song title and the album title and we've been able to hear the song....I had a couple of additional thoughts. I posted some of them on the official boards.
1) I think it could be funny/spoofy done in sepia with crackles like an old Western/Charlie Chaplan style of video. They could be cowboys (perfect excuse to get out the cowboy boots and sport mustaches--LOL) who fight the bad guys and rescue people and do good deeds and to get back at the "bad guys," Lifehouse challenges them to a poker game where they win big and then Lifehouse gives the money to all of the townspeople as they give the bad guys the slip as they are "Halfway Gone" before the bad guys are any the wiser. I can just picture all of these scenarios shown before the poker game of the guys rescuing someone tied to some railroad tracks, helping a cat out of a tree, outsmarting a bad guy who is picking on an elderly person, setting up booby traps for bad guys to fall into....all kinds of hairbrain schemes. LOL
2) On a more serious note, another concept I thought of could be a couple who has a fight (using images of fire) and then following the smoke of the fire to a mirror where one of the people looks and sees only 1/2 of themselves. Then the rest of the video can show the person trying different things and being with different people and then checking back in the mirror until something or someone restores their 1/2way goneness at the end.
3) Another potentially funny video would be to again use some retro types of images of an old fashioned magician and make it about "failed magic" So....the whole ideas is that none of the tricks turn out right and the magician starts to go crazy (Halfway Gone).
The very first scene could start with a close up of a rabbit getting pulled out of a hat. "You were always hard to hold, so letting go ain't easy." I could see a magician pulling a rabbit out of a hat and being very proud of himself and everyone clapping and then the rabbit gets away and he starts chasing after it, for example.
This idea would be easy to end up using smoke and mirrors as part of the whole story. It would be funny to see the guys be part of the magic show or to be the skeptical observers of the whole show.
How cool would it be if they could get like Chris Angel to guest star or you know who would be super funny? Bob Saggett! I don't know why he popped into my mind, but he would be hilarious as a failing magician. LOL
Can't think of what the ending would be like except that maybe Lifehouse offers to help by participating in the magic show. For example, Rick could be in that box thing (LOL) and then you know how they saw people in 1/2? Well that would be the "Halfway Gone" part. hahaa. But knowing Rick, he would just disappear instead of getting sawn in 1/2. Then at the end of the song, as the guys take the stage and play their instruments, the magician will wave his hands and the band will disappear and the magician will be HAPPPPPPEEEEE. (hahaha....I like happy endings :) But really Lifehouse made the magic happen with a trap door or something, but the magician doesn't know that.
4) Speaking of Chris Angel, I think they could just show him doing a bunch of illusions and show Lifehouse playing live and splice those two things together in an interesting way and people would find that pretty interesting as a video.
5) For another funny idea.... Maybe like some Inspector is suspicious of Lifehouse because they don't like how nice they are and are wondering what they're covering up. hahaha..... He thinks he's going to catch them, but they're always one step ahead of the other person.
The whole video could be a bunch of different spoofs on various "disappearing" acts. The most famous one I can think of is the Van Trapp family in the sound of music. LOL--this way they could all dress up in the goat herders yodeling outfits with the shorts, shirt, suspenders and knee socks. LOLOLOL
Another image I thought of is the old pillows in the bed trick. Someone is looking for them and pull back the covers and there are only pillows or maybe even something funny is in the bed like a happy face basketball or something.
I keep going back to the idea that the video has to have some element of the band disappearing just before they get "caught." No one will bother them while they are on stage for example, but maybe they show them being surrounded or watched during their concert, but as soon as the curtain call happens, Lifehouse is all the way gone.
Rick must have read this cuz he wore suspenders! haha Mere coincidence (probably) but I think NOT!
